Photography in a COVID world

The world has been coping with the COVID crisis for several months now. I don’t know about you, but social distancing has really affected my photography adventures. Gone are the travel trips we planned, or even just spending the day in the city. We are told to stay home in large part unless we need to go out. While some are being more adventurous, the numbers are starting to show that adventurism.

So, what to do, especially if you don’t want to be adventurous right now. Well first, don’t think you don’t have anything to shoot. It’s time to readjust your focus. If you have a yard or garden, start looking at the plants, insects, and wildlife you may find there. If you don’t, then look within your home. Study the different lighting. Play with Bokeh. Try projects like smoke photography, or water droplets, or even setting up still-lifes or models.

I will sometimes search the internet for inspiration on things to shoot without going out in public. There are lots of websites with different photo project ideas. You can find tutorials either on your camera, or editing software, and learn a new thing. The most important thing to do is to keep those creative juices flowing. Who knows? Still-life may become your new favorite pastime!
